Céline Dion, the voice behind timeless hits like "The Power of Love," recently shared a deeply moving message on Instagram, marking a decade since the passing of her beloved husband, René Angélil. He was 73 when he passed away after battling cancer.
"Mon amour, ten years without you feels like just a day, and yet each day feels like a decade," she wrote on January 14th, alongside a poignant portrait of René. "Ten years without your caress, and yet every day I feel your touch." The emotion is palpable, isn't it?
But the tribute didn't stop with Céline. Her three sons, René-Charles, 24, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 15, also penned a heartfelt message. René wasn't just Céline's husband; he was the man who guided her career from the age of 12, and they married 14 years later, in 1994.
"We miss you more than we can bear," their message read, "but you taught us to be strong." They added, "We love you more, every day and every year."
This isn't the first time Céline has opened up about the pain of losing René. Shortly after his passing in 2016, she spoke candidly about the complex emotions she experienced during his final days.
"I'm 48 years old and I lost the love of my life," she told People magazine in 2016. "I miss him a lot from when he was great but not when he was suffering. I cannot be selfish. You have to let people go. I feel at peace."
And this is the part most people miss... René's health had been declining for several years before his death. In 2014, Céline even canceled her Las Vegas residency to care for him. Two years later, she canceled another series of shows at Caesars Palace to mourn his passing.
"You see your husband suffer for three years, and it's not what you want to see," Céline shared. "So now I know he is well, and we live with him in a different way. And I see him through the eyes of my children every single day."
