Tesla is set to revolutionize long-distance electric vehicle (EV) travel in Hawaii with a significant expansion of its Supercharger network. The company is quietly planning to more than double the number of Supercharger stalls across the state, transforming the EV charging experience for both residents and tourists. This ambitious project involves three new Supercharger sites, two on the Island of Hawaii and one on Maui, which are currently in the permitting process. If all three are built as planned, Tesla will add 56 new Supercharger stalls, bringing the statewide total from 39 to 95. This expansion will significantly improve charging access, especially on the Big Island, where there are currently no Tesla Superchargers. The new stations will be strategically located to create a fast-charging backbone across both sides of the island, making cross-island driving in a Tesla more practical and efficient. The expansion also addresses the limited public DC fast-charging options and the growing population of EVs on the Big Island. Additionally, the new Wailea site on Maui confirms Tesla's commitment to bringing fast-charging infrastructure to the south of the island, filling a long-awaited gap in the network. This strategic move by Tesla will not only enhance the EV experience in Hawaii but also solidify its position as a leader in EV charging infrastructure.
